You alter one fact about the immediate scene by reaching into the local Rift substrate and editing it directly. You may add or remove a single small object, change what a creature within range just said or did, replace the contents of a container, or shift a minor environmental detail. The change must be plausible within the scene and cannot directly kill, fully heal, or undo a death. The GM is the final arbiter of scope. The cost is severe: you take one level of exhaustion and cannot cast Rewrite again until you finish a long rest.
At Higher Levels
When cast using a slot of 10th level (ritual only), the alteration may persist beyond the immediate scene and become a stable element of local history.
