Psion

Full channeler. Channels Rift Energy directly through the mind — no book, no oath, no bloodline, no apparatus. Just thought, and the Rift answering.

Hit Die · d8 INT / CHA Saves · INT / WIS points RA · full-channeler

Identity

The direct channeler. Where a Wizard studies and a Cleric prays, a Psion thinks. The Rift flows through trained cognition and dissociates from form: telekinetic pressure, telepathic intrusion, projected awareness, astral travel. Psions are rare — most Prime Plane cultures regard them with a mix of fear and superstition. The Aurelion Ascendancy's Memory-marked aristocracy occasionally produces Psions whose grandparents' minds still whisper at them. The Halcyion Federation conscripts identified Psions and trains them as Inquisitors. The Black Meridian Syndicate pays heavily to keep one on retainer.

Level Progression

  • L1
    Psionic Awakening

Choose your channeling ability — INT (cold, structured cognition) or CHA (raw, presence-driven manifestation). All your channels and class DCs use that ability. You learn three cantrips and four 1st-level channels from the Psion list, plus one bonus channel of any School derived from your formative awakening (described during character creation). Your Psionic Points pool refreshes on long rest.

    Mental Discipline

Your training in self-observation grants you proficiency in one mental skill: Insight, Investigation, Perception, or Persuasion (chosen at creation). You can swap this choice during a long rest spent in extended meditation.

  • L2
    Mind Step

Once per long rest, as a bonus action, you can teleport up to 30 ft to an unoccupied space you can see. You can spend 2 additional Psionic Points to use Mind Step again before the long rest. At 11th level, the distance increases to 60 ft.

  • L3 Subclass feature
    Psionic Path

Choose your Psionic Path — Telekinetic, Telepath, Soul-Walker, Prescient, or Mind-Render. Your Path grants features now and at 7th, 11th, 15th, and 18th level.

  • L4 ASI / Feat
  • L5
    Mind Over Matter

Once per short rest, when you fail a STR or DEX saving throw, you can instead succeed by routing your response through your channeling ability — re-roll the save using your channeling ability modifier in place of STR or DEX.

  • L7 Subclass feature
  • L8 ASI / Feat
  • L10
    Psionic Awareness Capstone

Your mind operates a passive sense out to 30 ft. You are continuously aware of the presence and approximate location of any creature within that radius, even through walls (up to 1 ft of stone, 3 ft of wood, or 1 inch of common metal). You also passively sense the emotional intent of those creatures at the broadest level (hostile / neutral / friendly). Total cover that blocks Rift Energy (lead-lined chambers, Mythar wards, certain Halcyion containment fields) blocks Psionic Awareness.

  • L11 Subclass feature
  • L12 ASI / Feat
  • L14
    Mental Fortress

Your sustained self-discipline grants you resistance to psychic damage and advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened. Attempts to read your surface thoughts via channels, augments, or Rift devices fail unless the source's channel save DC equals or exceeds 10 + your channeling ability modifier + your proficiency bonus.

  • L15 Subclass feature
  • L16 ASI / Feat
  • L17
    Mind Surge

Once per long rest, as a bonus action, you regain Psionic Points equal to half your Psion level (rounded up), up to your maximum.

  • L18 Subclass feature
  • L19 ASI / Feat
  • L20
    Mind Unbound Capstone

Once per long rest, when you cast a channel that would cost Psionic Points, you can instead spend 0 Psionic Points and cast it at full effect. This use applies to one channel only; you must complete a long rest before invoking Mind Unbound again. Additionally, your maximum Psionic Points pool increases by your channeling ability modifier — and the bonus refreshes whenever that modifier changes.
