Over the course of an hour-long rite conducted at a site of significant metalworking — an industrial foundry, an ancient forge, a starship's drive core — you bind a region of the Rift directly to its iron. At the ritual's conclusion, the half-mile radius around the focus becomes a Living Forge: every unattended metal structure, vehicle hull, weapon, and architectural component within the area can be reshaped at the will of the ritual's anchor (the caster, or a designated successor named at the rite). Once active, the anchor may, as an action while within the area, animate any single unoccupied vehicle or large metallic construct in the area as a Tier IV ally (commander stats determined by the GM; typical chassis: 300 HP, AC 20, three attacks at +12 for 4d10 + 6 damage); up to three such animations may be active at any time. The area produces finished weapons, plating, and machined parts at ten times normal industrial speed, requiring no operators. The Living Forge is permanent until the focus is destroyed, the anchor renounces the rite by spending an hour at the focus, or another Living Forge claims the same ground. The site is plot-grade: a Living Forge changes the strategic balance of any region it claims, and ownership of its anchor is a setting-level prize.
