The interface gives the recipient a wired connection to compatible terminals, drones, and ship networks, plus a subvocal channel that registers as silent thought on any paired receiver within roughly 100 feet. Installed by a clinic in 6 hours, or by an Engineer with a Medical Kit and a Hacker's Deck in 12. The Halcyion Order considers the interface a minor sacrament — the rite is performed at dawn by a Tech-Priest who blesses the lattice as it knits. Black Meridian crews fit them in the back of a chop-shop and consider the etiquette settled when the bleeding stops. Echelon issues them on signing bonus and writes off the cost against future productivity. Mechanical effect: while the interface is powered and synced (a duty cycle of one micro-cell, replaced monthly), the recipient gains advantage on Technology checks to interact directly with networked systems and can hold a silent conversation with any willing party also wearing a compatible interface or earpiece at conversational range.
