Mythar

Surviving descendant of the ancient elven precursor civilization that shattered the Continuum Crystal during the First Continuum Crisis. Exceedingly rare; Rift-touched in constitution and burdened with partial dream-memories of an age the galaxy lost.

Features

  • Inheritance of the Shattering

Your body carries trace alignment with the Rift itself, inherited from precursors whose civilization was deeply Riftbound at its peak. You have resistance to one damage type chosen at character creation from: psychic, radiant, necrotic, or rift damage. You have advantage on saving throws against effects that would charm, frighten, or directly manipulate the structure of your mind — most such effects rely on patterns the precursor civilization understood and warded against.

  • Dream-Memories

You experience involuntary fragmentary memories of Mythar life — not of your own life, but of the line. The memories surface during long rests and during moments of high Rift activity. Mechanically: once per long rest, you may consult the GM for a single fragment of relevant ancient knowledge — the original name of a place, the function of a Mythar relic in the scene, a forgotten word in the dead Mythar tongue, the rough location of a precursor ruin within the current region, or similar. The GM determines the fragment's precise content; it is always something a Mythar of the deep past might plausibly have known. The fragment is true within the constraints of what the line remembers.

  • Riftbound Constitution

Your structural relationship to Rift energy is unusually close. You gain a Rift Affinity bonus of 2 from your ancestry (per D-002; stacks with class curve and origin bonus, capped at 10 and at character level). You are visibly different — eyes that hold a faint inner light, skin that does not quite catch ordinary light correctly, occasional brief afterimages of channeled effects lingering at your edges. Mythar are not easily mistaken for ordinary elves by anyone who knows what to look for, and many factions actively seek to identify them.

  • Ancient Tongues

You can read, write, and speak Mythar (the dead language, scholarly status in most settings) and one of Common or High Aurelian. Additionally, you have advantage on Intelligence checks made to translate, decipher, or contextualize any pre-Crisis text, glyph, or inscription, whether or not it is in Mythar — the language family branches from your inheritance.

Lifespan

Mature at 100 · Typical max 2000 years

Mythar maturation is slow and uneven; many surviving Mythar spent centuries in suspended Riftbound states (preserved sleep within precursor sanctuaries, slow drift through low-time pockets, etc.) before walking the present galaxy. A 'young' Mythar may have been alive for the founding of the Aurelion Ascendancy and remember it as recent history. The age count above measures wakeful years.
