Aesir

Coastal and reef-dwelling elven lineage shaped by tidal pressures. Aesir physiology is genuinely amphibious; their settlements straddle the shore and the shallows and follow the migrations of salt-water currents.

Features

  • Aquatic Adaptation

You can breathe both air and water without limitation. You have low-light vision while submerged: in dim light underwater you see as if it were bright light, and in darkness underwater you see as if it were dim light (no color in the dark). You have a swim speed of 40 ft.

  • Tidal Sense

You feel pressure differentials, current shifts, and ambient salinity as a sixth sense. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks made in any aquatic environment — surface, shallow, or open water — and can identify the approximate depth, salinity, and current direction of any body of water you are immersed in.

  • Bond of the Salt

Saltwater itself responds to your call. You learn one Water-school cantrip of your choice from the Mist or tide-shaping family (e.g., a cantrip that gathers, hardens, or pushes a small body of water). You use Wisdom or Intelligence (your choice at character creation) as the channeling ability for this cantrip. It does not count against your class's known cantrip total.

  • Salt-Tongue

You can read, write, and speak Aesiric (the tidal cant, partly sung) and Common.

Languages

Aesiric, Common

Lifespan

Mature at 40 · Typical max 500 years

Aesir reach maturity in step with the other elven lineages but age perceptibly in their final century, their skin clouding to pale jade as the salt within them concentrates.
